Chapter 12: There were four lights

Like many, many chapters in The Amaranth Chronicles: Deviant Rising, Chapter 12: There were four lights, is one I think both Chris and I have seen clearly in our mind's eye since the beginning of our quest to create this series. This was probably one of the few chapters that didn't get rewritten and passed back and forth a hundred times because, to my recollection. Chris and I each had google docs open. We were literally writing it simultaneously. While it's hard to remember just who wrote what, I can honestly say a large sum of Cade's direction, lines, and overall energy was purely his brilliance. The bit about the coffee and curried chicken as a subtle, more human but ultimately more manipulative form of torture, I remember distinctly being written by him. It added a depth and complexity to Cade that we knew Xander would eventually have to respond to. It set up the very dynamic between these two characters in such a unique way that it has given us such an incredible framework moving forward. These two characters sharpen themselves upon one another.

It's taken me about three years to 3D model the characters in my free time. I'm using a combination of 3D Studio MaxDaz 3D, and Substance Painter, and while I'm critical of my work, I'm doing this alone, and that maybe be the most salient part, giving me recompense from my own self-criticism. At any rate, I took some creative liberties when rendering these stills that don't precisely follow the chapter, but they capture the same essence while simultaneously enhancing it. But I'll let you, the audience, be the judge. Below you'll find the professionally narrated chapter by Emily Smith. We couldn't have done this without her. Well, without further ado, The Amaranth Chronicles: Deviant Rising - Chapter 12: There were four lights:
